Hi, You're receiving this email because {name} thinks the Vieux Lazeret Chateauneuf du Pape 2020 would interest you.
Chateauneuf-du-Pape, France
300 years in the making (and at no time with shovels....)
From the the famous hillside wine appellation Chateauneuf du Pape where the Popes set up their new digs, when things in Rome hit trouble.
Domaine du Vieux Lazaret delivers the flavours of a Chateauneuf du Pape in a delicious reasonable package - brilliant with beef and lamb in rich red sauces or a gamey terrine.
Case of 6 ($54.90/bottle)
For 300 years the Quiot family have lived in the famous little town of Chateauneuf du Pape named after Pope John's (22nd) new digs in the Rhone Valley. Over the years revolutions and epidemics came and went along with quite a few marriages and by 1980 Geneviève and Jérôme Quiot had amassed one of the largest estates in Chateauneuf and thought it's about time to launch their own wine. Domaine du Vieux Lazaret is now one of the most recognised wines of the region. The a couple of tricks the vintners used to create this world famous red. Thousands of potato sized rocks cover the vineyards reflecting the suns rays back into the vines to ripening the grapes - its fair to say a shovel is useless here. The second trick C-d-P's have up their sleeve is a natural yeasts that ferments the sugar for super long periods. Once the luxurious blend of Cinsault, Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah is crafted it gets bottled into unique Chateauneuf embossed bottles and flax labels. Vieux Lazaret is a stunning example of the legend that is Chateauneuf du Pape wine but without going over the top - yes $50 is very reasonable for CDP's which complement a meal of rich saucy red meat or a gamey terrine.
