Effectively the talented team at Te Mata they have created a Coleraine experience that’s a lot kinder on your wallet. As with Te Mata’s other premium wines the picture on label gives a clue to origin of the wines name. Indeed Awatea was named after the 1930’s ship ‘SS Awatea’ meaning Eye of the Dawn. The team behind the SS Awatea were awarded several medals for there service on such a vessel of high standard of luxury that just kept on going during wartime. Just like the her it's namesake Awatea the wine will award you with luxury and longevity.
