Esk Valley has been enjoying the stunning view of the Hawke’s Bay coastline at Bay View since 1933. Founded by Robert Bird as Glenvale, this historic winery was reborn in the late 1980’s when it was purchased by George Fistonich, and renamed to Esk Valley. The caretaker of Esk Valley is Winemaker Gordon (Mr Esk) Russell who creates a range of sensational ‘hands on’ wines from authentic tradtitions and modern-day science . From the supreme value of the Esk Valley range, to the multi awarding winning Winemakers Reserve and the iconic pièce de résistance - ‘The Terraces’.Esk Valley’s Pinot Gris is a stunning product of two river banks in Hawke’s Bay. This full bodied Pinot Gris is sourced from 2 vineyards on the Ngaruroro River and 1 vineyard next the Esk River. Picked at different times to maximise the individual characteristics of the sites, all the grapes are hand harvested, gently whole bunched pressed and fermented both in tanks and in barrels. Complexity and variability ensures this Gris is crowd pleaser for all palates - thanks Mr Esk - yum!
