As one of the original wine families in South Australia the Angove family have spent over 100 years learning how to get the best out of South Australia vines, Now legends in the Australian winemaking scene the 2nd and 3rd generation Angoves were awarded the Order of Australia for their services to Winemaking. In the beginning (1886) it was Doc Angove who first planted in Tea Tree Gully. His son 'Skipper' set up one of the first wineries in Renmark and his son Tom who expanded into McLaren Vale. Now its the Angove siblings of Victoria, Sophie and Richard taking the reins. Much like the Angove family, the Angove Family Crest Shiraz is sourced from throughout the McLaren Vale region. These grapes are made in one of the oldest parts of the winery - the old school way. Crushed in 70 year old concrete vats before a natural wild ferment then its into the traditional wooden basket presses. After which the Shiraz is left to age in French Oak puncheons and hogsheads (oversize barrels). The entire process is vegan friendly and finishes with a vibrant and delicious dark berry Shiraz full of rich chocolate, liquorice and spice. A standout drop that represents McLaren Vale with full gusto.
