A NZ Chardonnay icon with a well deserved status of ‘Super Classic’
A continued evolution of ideas (Te Mata Chardonnay) named after the theory of evolution's home town (Darwin) – Elston,
Every year Peter Cowley shows his fine craftsmanship in Te Mata Elston by giving us a glass chardonnay at the highest level with delicious stonefruit and bites of grapefruit, wrapped up in creamy butterscotch with an oatmeal biscuit on the side. Length, complexity and couple of mmmmm....yummmmm are common descriptives.
Case of 6 ($44.90/bottle)
This Hawke’s Bay chardonnay wears the wyvern symbol of Elston with honour. After the 10 month barrel work Elston continues to evolve in the bottle for 5 or so years. Released for you to taste the chardonnay evolution in flavour, the choice becomes yours of which Elston experience you want. Look for inherited characteristics of grapefruit, ripe stonefruit and touches of pineapple from the grapes. The divergence of the wine occurs as it evolves in the barrel adding complexed flavours of oatmeal biscuits, cedar, and delectable creamy butterscotch. Hats off to Darwin (aka Peter Cowley) for creating such an evolutionary experience.
